5 Website Branding Tips for Small Businesses in CT

Did you know that in 2016 almost half of small businesses in the US still didn’t have a website? This means that even having an online presence puts you a step ahead of the competition. However, a website that isn’t properly branded can make your business look unprofessional. It can also lose you customers or stop visitors from remembering you.

Luckily, it’s easy to improve your website branding. Keep reading for five expert tips.

1. Use Your Brand Name as Your URL

If you run a cleaning company called Inspire Cleaning, your URL should be something like inspirecleaning.com.

While it might be tempting to bid on domains like bestcleaningcompany.com, addresses like this look tacky. They can also confuse customers and don’t tie into your brand.

The first rule of branding is consistency, so keep your URL sensible.

2. Incorporate Your Brand Colors

Do you have a set of brand colors that are used in your logo, on printed materials, and around your offices?

Your website should include these colors so that it fits with the rest of your marketing materials.

If you have lots of brand colors, try to narrow it down to two or three, or your website will look too busy. If you don’t have brand colors, now is the time to choose some!

3. Choose the Right Typography

Is your company the budget option, or do you offer luxury services? Are you playful and fun, or serious and formal?

The fonts you choose to use on your website say a lot about your brand, so be sure to choose wisely.

Whether you go for a traditional font or a modern option, make sure it’s easy to read. There’s no point in having a beautiful website that’s useless to visitors.

4. Include Your Logo on Every Page

Got an awesome logo?

Make sure it’s included in a prominent location on your site. The center or left-hand side of the banner at the top of your site usually works well.

Your logo helps customers to remember you and shows them that they’re on the right website. It also reinforces your brand image, so don’t let it hide in the footer or on a page nobody visits.

If there’s something about your logo that makes you reluctant to include it, it’s definitely time for a logo redesign.

5. Make Sure Your Email Address Is @yourwebsite.com

Are you currently using an email address like inspirecleaning@gmail.com?

Stop.

Using an email address which uses your own website domain looks a million times more professional. It helps to create a consistent brand experience.

You could use yourname@yourwebsite.com, contact@yourwebsite.com, or hello@yourwebsite.com. Most website packages include a free email address, so there’s no excuse not to use it.

Why Is Website Branding Important?

Website branding is what makes your website unique to your company.

It shows off your unique personality, makes your company more memorable, and ensures that your brand looks consistent across all channels.

Get started with website branding by following the tips above, and you’ll soon see an increase in online leads and conversions.
